Fortress Youth Development Center serves 150 children in the impoverished Historic Southside neighborhoods of Fort Worth. We believe that every child has the ability to achieve their dreams, and our focus on authentic relationships, strong academic programs and a reliance on God works to make those dreams a reality. Our five programs—Early Learning Center, After School, Summer, Ignite (mentoring) and Equip (parent engagement) are designed to bring hope to these children and their families by providing resources that will help them break the cycle of generational poverty. Our goal is to IGNITE spiritually, ENGAGE relationally, and EQUIP academically.
Building on our love of reading and our passion for improving literacy, StoryLand is the organization’s signature fundraising event, drawing 250+ of Fort Worth’s most passionate, connected, and generous volunteers and donors. This year, our 10th annual StoryLand will celebrate all the ways we nourish our kids - not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spritually, as well. Get ready for an eclectic mix of food trucks, desserts, and maybe even some Green Eggs and Ham!
