Fortress Youth Development Center serves 150 children in the impoverished Historic Southside neighborhoods of Fort Worth. We believe that every child has the ability to achieve their dreams, and our focus on authentic relationships, strong academic programs and a reliance on God works to make those dreams a reality. Our five programs—Early Learning Center, After School, Summer, Ignite (mentoring) and Equip (parent engagement) are designed to bring hope to these children and families by providing resources that will help them break the cycle of generational poverty. Our goal is to IGNITE spiritually, ENGAGE relationally, and EQUIP academically.
Building on our love of reading and our passion for improving literacy, StoryLand is the organization’s signature fundraising event, drawing 250+ of Fort Worth’s most passionate, connected, and generous volunteers and donors. This year, our 9th annual StoryLand will feature bedtime stories - a nod to social/emotional tools we’re focusing on this year through professional development and hands-on application. And—who doesn’t love a good bedtime story with a happy ending?
